 Three big films are due for Christmas this year- Crazy Rascals, Lolipop, Red Chillies. The Sabarimala season has started, so there are unlikely to be any big Malayalam films till Christmas. Atleast half a dozen films like Suresh Gopi's Bullet are ready for release, but there are hardly any takers. Meanwhile Twenty: 20 is doing extraordinary business, and other films just does not want to clash with it. By the deadline date, a total of 113 films were registered thus defeating the very purpose of the ban. Even if the council is very particular to impose the ban, it will take at least two years as the films, numbering around 120, that were already registered with it will have to be released. At the same time, some producers were ready to defy the ban and were ready to face the consequences by releasing the dubbing films. One producer reportedly claimed, 'I know that the council will not allow me to utilise the concession on advertisements and other things. But I have no fears more Prabhas-game-for-multi-starrers Multi-starrer films are now a norm in Bollywood. The idea is yet to catch up in Tollywood. Down south, actors are larger than life figures and none of the stars is prepared to allow any one else to dominate them in their films. But some directors have come up with multi-starrer films from time to time and the films have also done very well.. Actor Prabhas is the only hero who is now keen to act in multi-starrer films. He said that if any director comes forward to make multi-starrer films, he would be ready to act in them. more Ileana-back-with-three-films The sexy Ileana did not have a single film in hand after Jalsa. There were reports that she was now trying her luck in Kollywood and Bollywood. The reason for her not having any films in Telugu was also attributed to the fact that she was now asking for one crore per film, thereby putting herself out of the reach of many a producer. But Ileana is now back in Tollywood. She has signed up for not one or two but three films – yes three films! The first is with YVS Choudhary, the second with Surender Reddy and the third with Chatrapathi Prasad. All the three films will hit the floor this year. &n more Dasari-Out!-Chiru-In! Here is a strange but interesting fact; Megastar Chiranjevi and Darsakarathna Dasari Narayana Rao have 148 films each to their credit. While Chiranjeevi has acted in 148 films so far, Dasari has directed a similar number of films so far. But Dasari is sure to overtake Chiraneevi soon. The reason is obvious. Dasari has been dropped from the union cabinet recently and he is now ‘Out’ of politics by his own admission. So he has all the time in the world to make films once again. On the other hand, Chiranjeevi is toying with the idea of launching his own political party. So he will soon be ‘In’ politics. As such, he may not get the time to act in films for quit some time. So Dasari is all set to beat Chiru to the m more KCR-imposes-ban-on-Chiru-films!  The TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao is furious at the stand taken by Chiranjeevi on the ‘T’ issue. KCR blasted Chiranjeevi in his usual language and said that there is no need at all for people of Telangana to watch his films. KCR literally called for a ban of Chiranjeevi’s films as well those of Pawan Kalyan, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun. KCR said that they have enough actors in Telangana and they will make their own films from now on. &nb more Sankranthi-films-postponed  The festival of kites or Sankranthi is a big event in the calendar of Tollywood. Many big films are scheduled for release during this time. As it is harvest time, the people across the state throng to the theatres to watch movies. This year about six films were slated for release. But now three films stand postponed. The films that are no longer in the Sankranthi race are Drona, Sathyameva Jayathe and Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam. Now only three films are hitting the screens for Sankranthi. more Chiru-not-to-quit-films-completely The biggest and the most difficult decision for Chiranjeevi was whether to give up acting in films for ever. He said that the film industry was like his mother and he had been in the industry for over three decades. Chiranjeevi however said that acting is in his blood and will remain so till his death. He will act in films now and then. He will not act in regular commercial cinema but only in meaningful, socially responsible and educative films. If he comes across such a script, he will definitely don the grease paint once again and act. &n more Kamalini-wants-to-act-in-masala-films Kamalini Mukherjee wants to break free from the mould of Shekar Kammula type of films. She wants to act in regular masala and commercial films. She looks like a girl next door with he innocent charm and down to earth personality. But Kamalini is keen to act in commercial films from now on. Her first attempt ‘Pellaindi Kaani’ was a disaster. She is now on the lookout to star opposite some of the young heroes. &n more TN-government-says-no-to-other-languages  The Tamil Nadu government every year gives out subsidies to Tamil films that are made on a low budget. This year, a committee headed by Pon Baskaran, had recommended 45 and 49 films, of which the government had selected 34 and 36 films, for the years 2005 and 2006 respectively. Each of these 70 films will get Rs. 7 lakhs. In an announcement made yesterday, the government clarified that this time films that have titles other than Tamil have been included in the subsidy list because the more I-came-into-films-accidentally-–-Kaajal  Kaajal says that her entry into films was accidental. She never dreamt of acting in films. She is a trained journalist and was working with a cosmetics company before entering films. A friend who shot her pictures passed them on and she was spotted by Baharathi Raja and offered a chance to work in ‘Cinema’. One thing led to another and she did ‘Lakshmi Kalyanam’ and now is acting in ‘Jagadam’.
