Director and producer Kunal Kohli is very confident about his upcoming film Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic .
Kunal, who has co-produced ‘TPTM’ with Yashraj Films , has said that his movie is an entertaining film which would appeal to kids and the kids inside grown-ups.
"We don't make films for kids any more. If there are some, there is childishness (in them). We need to talk intelligently to kids," Kohli told reporters in Mumbai.
Kohli said his new film speaks about love, relationships and family. It tells the story of four orphans whose custody is given to a lonely businessman ( Saif Ali Khan ). The kids hate Saif. They need love but there is none to love them. But then comes a fairy ( Rani Mukherjee ) from heaven to help them. The only problem is that the fairy doesn’t know what love is.
Kohli felt that Saif Ali Khan, who had featured in his earlier hit Hum Tum , has excelled in every new image a filmmaker has given to the versatile actor.
"Even in ‘Thoda Pyar’, he will be seen in a totally different avatar," Kohli stressed.
Speaking about Rani Mukherjee, Kohli said her repertoire of work in the last few years has a varied range which no other actress of recent times can match.
When asked how much control he had over his movie, given that Yashraj Films were co-producers, Kohli, who has previously directed three films for the banner, said: "I was always involved in the production even as a director and had full control of my movies."
Kohli said he likes to work within limited budget and focus more on the content of the story.
"Thoda Pyaar was completed in less than Rs 20 crore. My previous films Fanaa and ‘Hum Tum’ were made at a budget of Rs 24 crore and Rs 7.5 crore respectively…Even movies like Taare Zameen Par and ‘Munnabhai’ were made for Rs 12 crore and Rs 15 core respectively. Audiences come to theatres to see the quality of the content and not the cost at which it has been made," Kohli said.
Speaking about his future plans to produce, Kohli revealed: "I plan to produce films for independent directors as well. With corporates coming into the film industry, several newcomers are getting a chance to direct films. I have three assistant directors whose films I plan to produce."
‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’ is set to release on June 27.
