Zarina, a beautiful girl from Tajikistan, grew up watching films of Shah Rukh Khan , Madhuri Dixit and Amitabh Bachchan .
Zarina is making her acting debut in an Afghani film called ‘Spring Of Hope’, written, directed and produced by Hashmat Khan.
Hashmat is an Afghani by birth and has acted in Bollywood films in 1980's and 90's. He says that 22 years of war in Afghanistan has left the country with no actresses. So he had to rope in Zarina from Dushanbe, Tajikistan, for his film.
Zarina and Hashmat are in Mumbai to promote their film before it is screened at three forthcoming film festivals in India – Third Eye Film Festival, International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, and South Asian International Film Festival.
Zarina says she has been a big fan of Bollywood films and adores filmstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Amitabh Bachchan.
She is open to acting in Bollywood films, but says she won’t do the song n’ dance routine and skin exposure.
Acting in films has been a childhood dream for Zarina. And when the opportunity to make a career in films came to her, she quit her studies in finance and her job as a bank employee to follow her dream. As of now, she is looking forward to act in more films by Hashmat Khan.
‘Spring of Hope’ is Afghanistan's first commercial film in the recent years. The film is the love story of two people (Zarina and Hashmat) belonging to different Afghani communities. The story begins with the Russian invasion of the country in 1979 and ends with the fall of Taliban in 2001.
The film is made at a budget of Rs 2 crores. It is in Persian and Pashto languages.
Hashmat plans to release the film around December in India, America and Europe.
