Another film attempts to tell the story of the bar dancer's life.
Bar dancer Tarannum's life continues to inspire filmmakers. After Deepa Ki Tarannum, producer Prashant Gangar and director Lucky Raj have launched a film to unveil the mystery surrounding Taranum's life. The title Tarannum – Ek Paheli explains it all. Gangar says, “I have been following Tarannum's life for a while now and find her story quite fascinating. I thought we should weave a film around it. Her life became public a long while ago but still many people do not know the truth about her. So, I got my creative team together and we started this film. I haven't seen Deepa Ki Tarranum yet but I think that the film has been shelved and ours will be the first film to hit the theatres.”
Talking about the story of the film he says, “It tells Tarannum's story. But it will show how she managed to earn crores. It will dwell on her interaction with cricketers, Bollywood actors and even politicians and how she manipulated them and so on.”
Model-turned-actor Rakhi Vohra plays Tarannum in the film. “I was modelling in Delhi when I got a call to audition for this role. I had read about Tarannum in newspapers. I loved the concept of the film and I think it is a very interesting story. So, after I was offered the film I did my research. Unfortunately, I could not visit dance bars as they had shut by then.”
Writer Parminder Shekhavat did some interesting homework too. “I met a lot of bar dancers to understand what they go through. But not everyone made as much money as Tarannum did,” she says.
