The exceedingly enthusiastic cast and crew members of Anjan Dutta's The Bong Connection scared residents of Houston, Texas. The film's unit was putting up at a plush bungalow in a posh yet conservative neighbourhood. After day-long shoots, the cast, which included Raima Sen, Shayan Munshi and Pia Rai Chaudhari, would meet for late- night chats and workshops. Their loud rehearsals didn't go down well with the neighbours. Director Anjan Dutta says, "We were living in a predominantly white neighbourhood. They used to look at us suspiciously. Whenever we would gang-up we did make a lot of noise. They had complained once about the ruckus that we created."

Later while making a spicy khichdi the cast and crew members had the neighbours in tears and that's when they called up the local cops. The house actually belonged to an affluent Bengali who was on a business trip at that point of time. While there was a lot of activity happening in the house like workshops, discussions, arguments as well as cooking; this caused a huge amount of trouble as the neighbours ended up complaining to the cops. The policemen ended up at the doorstep just when the crew was cooking dinner.

While the cops themselves mentioned that they expected a barrage of dopers, women and orgies going on inside, all they found was Director Anjan Dutt cooking khichdi. After not finding anything suspect, the cops had coffee. They wished the crew luck for the film and left. The entire crew feels that the U.S - inspite of being what it is, at the end of it is a great movie-loving nation. Dutta says, "The whole unit were living in this house. It was a good neighbourhood. Neighbours complained saying that strange things are happening. When the police came in they found everything normal. When I told then we are making a Hindi film, they were amused. They asked if I knew Shah Rukh Khan and if there were any other Bollywood celebrities around there."
