There’s a thin line between art and obscenity. The obsession with ‘bare’dom has been the focal point of men, maestros and masters down the years. And the fine line has often been crossed, raising the bar for bareness each time. These are ladies that have led the pack with seductive ease and inevitable grace. Together, we call them the ‘un’dress circle. Go on; raise your cheers to the glorious vision of these gorgeous vixens.
Koena Mitra
You've got to give kudos to Ramgopal Varma for introducing this Bong bombshell to Bollywood . Since then, she's been making her presence felt with noticeable performances in action films like ‘Musafir’ and ‘Insaan’. After padding her resume with box office successes, she’s all set for her departure with Subhash Ghai’s forthcoming flick.
Rakhi Sawant
She possesses a raw charisma that she brings to her dance numbers, not to mention a body that looks like it was hallowed with bangs. While she may not be a show stealer of a performer, her wickedness sure excites more than a long glance.
Tanissha
She can go from endearing and innocent to sex kitten with the simple turn of a smile. She needs to make better selections in the scripts coming across her desk and ditch the career-induced teeny twang. It sounds like a shackle placed around her gorgeous neck, and it's maddening to see no innate talent in spite of the illustrious genes to claw her back into reckoning.
Tanushree Dutta
On pure lust appeal alone, exotic Tanushree is in an entire league of her own. Damn, she’s playing another sport. Those pouty lips, those devilish eyes and a body that was just made for sin all come together to package a woman that bedazzles her male co-stars and gives male audiences everywhere cause for an eternal cold shower.
Amrita Arora
An ex-VJ, Amrita made a slow entry into Bollywood with the disastrously mediocre ??Kitne Door Kitne Paas?. After repeated insignificant parts, she finally found the limelight with an unnecessary controversy vis-??-vis ??Girlfriend?. Amrita looks fine and carries herself well, and with her ingrained personality that shows up regardless of the role she's fitted for she definitely has the potential to roll many a seeking eye.
Esha Deol
She was a cutie with oodles of potential in ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche’, but has become down right babelicious since breaking onto the ‘undress’ circuit with ‘Dhoom’. She made Amisha Patel look homely by comparison in the Vikram Bhatt directed ‘Ankahee’. But in spite of the rather illustrious genes, she still has a lot to prove concerning whether she can carry a film on more than her sexpot status.
Kashmira Shah
Though she'd been around forever (‘Hindustani’ anyone?), she made her first jackknife into the pool with Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Holiday’ which released earlier this year. After capturing the imagination of local audiences with her dusky sex appeal, Kashmira is now looking to do substantial roles that can justify her potential. Hope it doesn’t mean too long a wait.
Yana Gupta
Yana, who’s currently dating hunk with a catty voice, Aftab Shivdasani made her foray into Bollywood as an ‘item girl’ in E.Niwas’ ‘Dum’. Remember ‘Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo’; well that was the first of many ‘item’ singles that Yana has since been part of. And though her USP is not acting or powerhouse performance, she still makes a splash with her bangs and an electric smile.
Celina Jaitley
We’ll forgive her the decision to be an actress in the first place. Yet rationally, the only reason Celina is still an option for mainstream filmmakers are her rock cold eyes that seem to gaze into eternity. Being bootilicious comes with the territory and that she’s shown in each of her films from ‘Janaasheen’ to the outright quirky ‘Tom, Dick and Harry. Go on lady, the ‘undress’ circle was destined for you.
Priyanka Chopra
She's shown she can shelter those stunning looks and win Filmfare Awards , though she's more known for her box office exploits these days. She is an ex-beaty queen, so she obviously has the looks and now with a leadership lecture at the Global Leadership Forum on the cards, our favourite Piggy Chops is all set to be the Bollywood’s next leader with looks.
Neha Dhupia
Doing goofy B-movie skin flicks with Karan Razdan and Harry Baweja wasn't helping her case. So now, she has pledged to break out of the ‘undress’ circuit and ‘Chup Chup Ke’ which released last month is the first in that new attempt. Whether her new performance oriented image will bring her the laurels and the eyes, only time will tell, and pretty soon we might add.
Mallika Sherawat
The girl has sex appeal, and she knows how to maximize the hell out of it. After being hailed as the ‘kiss’ queen right after her first film ‘Khwahish’, Mallika has moved onto being screen goddess- a sort of phenomenon for young wannabes. After delivering some memorable parts in forgettable films, Mallika still has the urge to be curvier, going by that scrofulous soft drink commercial. We’ll take her the way she is, isn’t it?
Meghna Naidu
Maybe the strongest indicator of a actress’ ‘undress’ power would be getting men to see movies they would never see in a million years. Take ‘Hawas’. Yep, the explosion of Meghna and a corny storyline actually got men beeline for a ticket. Though she’s quickly losing favour lately, we hear she’s become hot property down south. We aren’t surprised!
Preity Zinta
She does best when she plays the modern and ambitious vixen that would just assume kick her male love interest in the cajones if her own future was ever on the line. Ah, you've got to love the girls that play hard to get -onscreen that is. She also comes equipped with that sexy angrezi accent which beats the plain Jane Bollywood drawl any day.
Rani Mukherjee
She can out act just about any of the actresses on this list, and she has that pure look that reminds you of classic Bollywood, when films actresses were more than their ‘undress’ quotient. With a smidge of ethnic goddess, and deep dazed looking eyes, she makes that long trip to the single screen theatres in Bhopal worth every bit of those pinching miles.
Kareena Kapoor
Everyone thought that ‘Refugee’ was the film that established Abhishek Bachchan, but little did we know that the li’l sis of Lolo was the one really making her mark. While Abhi has felt rock bottom through his seventeen consecutive flops post-debut, Kareena rose like a meteor with her second film ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’. After critically acclaimed performances in ‘Chameli’ and ‘Asoka’, she has now got the lesser known Shahid Kapur much needed limelight with their publicised love affair. Now, that’s a dedicated gal!
