A festival of Telugu films will b held in New Jersey, US from January 15 to 18. The American Telugu TV is conducting the festival christened as Tollywood Film Festival.

Fourteen films that were released in 2008 will be screened at the four day festival. The films include Krishna , Ready , Kotha Bangaru Lokam , Parugu , Kantri , Gamyam , Ullasamga Uthsahamga, Yuvatha , Vaana , Bathukamma, Aatadistha and Kathanayakudu

    Stars-keep-away-from-Film-Festival




    The ongoing International Film festival in Hyderabad is coming to a close. While attendance to the festival is good, the actors and actresses seem to have ignored he festival. Not many stars have graced he occasion even though it has been nearly a week since the festival was inaugurated. Admitting that the festival lacked star presence, Tammareddy Bharadwaja said that some of the stars are expected to drop in the next couple of days.

    Dasavatharam-Dosa-Festival-in-Chicago



    The Kamal Haasan film ‘Dasavatharam’ is now all set for a worldwide release on June 13. The film directed by KS Ravi Kumar and produced by Oscar Ravichandran took more than two and a half years to complete.

    The fans of Kamal Haasan are organizing a special dosa festival at New Chola restaurant in Naperville. At Tirupathi Bheemas also, the ‘Dasavatharam Dosa Festival’ is being held on June 6, 7 and 8. Ten different varieties of Dosas are on offer on the menu.

    Chitra-Yathra-commences-in-Hyderabad



    The Dhrusya Films Foundation is conducting a film festival titled 'Chitra Yathra' at Hari Hara Kalabhavan in Secunderabad. The festival will showcase over 100 films. The festival opened on June 14 and will go on till July 17. The festival is the brainchild of director B Narasinga Rao.

    In yet another achievement for Yash Raj Films, two of their films Chak De! India and Kabul Express will be creating waves across the borders. Kabul Express has been invited to be a part of the prestigious Cairo International Film Festival, which is the first ever film festival to be started in West Asia.

    The 31st edition of the festival, takes place from November 27 to December 7. Kabul Express will be screened in the "Festival of Festivals" section in the second half of the festival.

    Medaram---Biggest-Tribal-festival-in-Asia

    The biennial Medaram Jatara is the biggest tribal fair in Asia. The festival is held once every two years in the month of ‘Magh’ for three days with the main festival on the full moon day.

    Pilgrims offer jaggery to the deity. Jaggery is popularly referred to as Bangaram. It is offered as part of fulfillment of a wish. Some people offer jaggery equivalent to their weight.

    The tribal festival attracts one crore people from not only Telangana but also from Jharkhand, Orisaa and other places. The festival is held in a dense forest at a small village called Medaram. The village is about 100 kms from Warangal.

    United Progressive Alliance chairperson and All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Film Festival organized by the Children's Film Society of India. Speaking on the occasion Sonia Gandhi calls for films which would imbibe the quality of unity among the children. Films should not only provide entertainment but also promote knowledge among the students. The film industry people should enlighten them on our country's culture, heritage, customs and traditions. Especially the children's films should have a good message for society. She also called upon the people to save children from child labour.     Neha-goes-to-Auckland-in-Diwali

    Neha Dhupia will be the star attraction and Radio Tarana's Bollywood celebrity at this year’s Asia: NZ Diwali Festival of Lights in Auckland this weekend.

    Neha Dhupia is also the glamorous new face of the Police International label who signed her to spearhead their campaign in the Indian consumer market.

    She will appear at the 2006 Diwali Festival of Lights at Britomart on Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15. The festival is organized by the Asia New Zealand Foundation and Auckland City Council.

    Ms Dhupia’s participation in the Diwali Festival of Lights has been made possible by Auckland’s leading Indian community station, Radio Tarana, who is a sponsor for the event.

    Kamli-audio-released

    Nandita Das for the first time acted in Telugu for 'Kamli'. The film was produced by Haricharana Prasad and Sukanya on the banner of Apoorva Chitra and was directed by KNT Sastry which depicts the lifestyle of Lambadi women. The film was already screened at Pusan International Film Festival and also at the Third Eye Film Festival in Mumbai. The audio of 'Kamli' was launched in Hyderabad recently. Noted journalist Prabhu unveiled the first audio CD. Director Sastry says, 'It is a film based on social subject. Suddala Ashok Teja penned good songs and Isaac Thomas Kottukapalli's tunes would enthrall the audiences.'     Bollywood-invasion-in-IFFI:-Mammootty

    Expressing concern over the increasing influence of Bollywood in India's most prestigious film festival, the ongoing IFFI at Goa, a top South Indian filmstar on Saturday said the organisers failed to acknowledge regional films.

    "There is Bollywood invasion in the film festival. The organisers have not acknowledged Malayalam cinema and the vibrant film industry in Kerala," well known actor Mammootty told reporters here.

    Just like in the Cannes and Berlin film festivals, where there is invasion of Hollywood films, in IFFI, a lot of prominence is given to the Hindi films, he alleged.

    Indian-film-festival-begins-on-August-11

    A film festival highlighting the social, cultural and political themes of emerging India and offering an insight into the Indian way of life, will begin in Canadian capital Ottawa next week.

    The festival, organized by the Indian High Commission in cooperation with the Canadian Film Institute, will begin on August 11 and run through August 26.

    The films shown at the festival will include commercially and critically successful Bollywood movies like Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Baghban', Amol Palekar's 'Paheli', noted South Indian actress-director Revathy's 'Phir Milenge' that deals with HIV/AIDS, and Mahesh Manjrekar's 'Viruddh'.
