The Triumala Triupathi Devasthanam has been providing free meals to pilgrims for many decades now. However the free meal was offered to only those pilgrims who had a darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy.
The free meals tokens were issued to the pilgrims inside the temple after they completed their darshan. But the TTD has now decided to stop this practice of issuing tokens and instead offer free meals to everyone.
The TTD has been providing free meals to about 30,000 pilgrims every day. The number used to go up during weekends substantially.
Under the new free meal for everyone scheme, the TTD plans to provide free meals to 40,000 pilgrims every day and over 50,000 during the weekends.
