The Telugu Desam chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, suspects the involvement of the Congress in the film actor Junior NTR’s decision not to attend the Yuva Garjana meeting in Guntur on November 5. Mr Naidu said this before a few politburo members while discussing the preparations for the meeting. Top sources in the party said Mr Naidu had received “vital information” about a former Rajya Sabha member of the party who was helping the Congress. “His personal grudge against me might be the reason for this conspiracy,” Mr Naidu is learnt to have told the poliburo members.

The ex-MP has moved out of the Telugu Desam and is actively supporting the Congress. Mr Naidu has asked his colleagues to maintain restraint while talking on the NTR family issues. Irritated over news reports exposing the internal bickerings in the NTR family over participation in the TD-sponsored Yuva Garjana followed by poll campaign, Mr Naidu said, “What happens if one or two do not attend? Are we not attracting huge crowds? I had attracted big crowds during (my) Mee Kosam (tour).”

Later talking to journalists, Mr Naidu said, “Jr NTR has not told me anything about not attending the Yuva Garjana till date. He only informed that he had to go for a shoot on that day. Why the media is so interested in only person? ” Mr Naidu had tried to get the actor to attend the meeting, even meeting him for 45 minutes. Now, he seems to have lost all hopes of getting Junior NTR “He will campaign for the party at the appropriate time,” Mr Naidu said.

Ever since the NTR family role in the party campaign came up, a number of problems cropped up. Initially, it was Mr Tarak Ratna who created a scene by holding separate meetings without consulting the party. Then came the issue of Balakrishna becoming the Chief Minister. It was followed by the ticket controversy for the Gannavaram Assembly constituency. And the latest was the attack on the media by some TD leaders in Guntur ahead of the Yuva Garjana The party leaders are unable to digest the way in which actors are rival camps in the party.
