Since two years, there have been intermittent reports about Karma, Confessions and Holi — the Hollywood project featuring Sushmita Sen, Randeep Hooda, Deepal Shaw and Naomi Campbell, being co-produced by Drena , daughter of Robert De Niro .
So whatever happened to the movie?
Director Manish Gupta had finished shooting it in October 2005, according to sources associated with the film. But talk has spread that Drena is not satisfied with the post-production on the film. Sen also has stopped mentioning the film she used to rave about initially.
Producer's take
However, the movie’s co-producers Sa Re Ga Ma insists the movie is very much on. B R Sharan , business head of Sa Re Ga Ma, says, “We admit there has been some delay, but that is because the post-production has taken some time to complete —since the director Manish is based in New York and the editor is in India. Between the two of them, it took seven months to wrap up the post production.”
Chalo festival
According to him, Drena De Niro has liked the film and has assured them that it would be screened at her father’s Tribeca Film Festival later this year.
“Sushmita saw the film recently and praised it,” Sharan adds.
“She wouldn’t have been positive about the movie if she were upset for any reason.” Sharan informs that it would be ideal to release the film during during the Holi festival time this year. But doesn’t that mean they should start on the promotions anytime now?
To that, Sharan states, “In case we can’t make it to the cinemas by Holi, then we shall schedule it for an April or May release.. whenever we get an appropriate choice of theaters. There were some changes in our in-house management but all that has been sorted out now. We have begun working on the film’s marketing and promotional strategy.”
