We heard that Sushmita Sen is headed West again. She has already worked with Hollywood stars like Naomi Campbell and Drena De Niro in Karma, Confession and Holi. Well, this time it's Richard Gere, no less, in a film titled The Expat .
Is it true that the actress will soon be leaving for Argentina to join Richard Gere to shoot for The Expat , to be directed by US-based director Sutapa Ghosh. "I have already signed the film. And yes, Richard Gere plays the male lead," said Sushmita, when contacted.
This will be her second international project, and she is looking forward to it. However, she is yet to recover from her neck pain. "Sush is not in a position to travel just yet, she is on antibiotics and has been advised complete rest. We are trying to co-ordinate her schedule. Naturally they want her dates well in advance," says Neelam, Sushmita's sister. Sushmita needs to travel a lot for the film and her sister appears worried about her. "Sushmita has really found it difficult to stay home for three weeks. Sushmita is an active person. But I'm sure that as soon as she starts working she will be fully charged again."
Sushmita plays the role of an Expat in the film. "I am looking forward to working with Sutapa and Richard. Sutapa is obviously an extremely talented woman, or else she wouldn't get a production house like Miramax to back her project," she says.
Considering that she is taking her international assignments seriously, will she be settling down part-time in Hollywood? "Come on, this is just my second Hollywood film and I am enjoying it. I don't think that nowadays geographical location matters for any creative person. I am worried about my neck, otherwise I am just fine and ready to fly," she replies.
Currently Sushmita is busy promoting her forthcoming film Zindaggi Rocks . "I still have to dub for the film but I have been asked not to travel, so Tanuja is arranging to have it done at my place. God bless her," says Sushmita.
Incidentally, director David Dhawan is also waiting for Sushmita's date patiently, for his yet untitled film. "I am lucky to work with such people. I know that it takes a lot of effort to make a film, it's all about team work and my being out of action means a lot of rescheduling," she says.
