Undaunted by the collapse of Sound of Boots, Malayalam’s `Super Cop’ Suresh Gopi once again puts on the police cap in `Ayudham’.(Weapon). Thematically, this film has a message on the death and destruction weapons generate. The film is getting ready for release on June 4.
Suresh is DGP Rishikesh in Ayudham who is entrusted with the investigation of a criminal case with the active support of a chief minister. The movie also has veteran character actor Thilakan donning the role of comrade V K, a pivotal character in the movie. Lakshmi Rai is the heroine of the movie. The film also has Shammi, Murali, Biju Menon, Vijayakumar, Bala and Suraj Venjaaramoodu. S L Puram Jayasoma writes the script director. Alphonse tunes to the lyrics of Gireesh Puthencherry.
Interestingly, it was during the shooting of Ayudham, Suresh Gopi came to attend a police function in the uniform, which prompted an advocate challenging the actor in the court for `illegal’ and `insulting’ use of police uniform. Barring the constabulary on duty, none is permitted to wear a police uniform in public, it was pointed out.. Suresh Gopi had pleaded that he had little time to change the dress, and the function happened to be near the sets so he took the liberty to keep the uniform on, and not, as it was argued, intended to `insult’ the uniform or the police force.
