Rajinikanth is in a dilemma. His Kuselan has slurred his image in the trade, among distributors and theatre owners.
The star believes that he owes more to the trade than to any other section in the industry for making him a superstar. He knows that without their support and faith in his films, his superstardom will be under threat.
Rajinikanth's Shankar directed Robot is getting delayed due to various technical reasons. He needs a release for the summer of 2009. Soundarya's Ocher Studio's Sultan- The Warrior is an experimental animation film. Will his fans accept it, is the big question.
So the superstar's advisor's are asking him to do a quick family entertainer, that can be wrapped up in eight months and ready for April 14, 2009 release. The grapevine has it that he is looking for a director with a good script and packages his mass appeal successfully.
Rajinikanth had contacted writer and director Murgadoss, who is waiting for his Hindi Ghajani to release. Murgadoss it seems is not keen to do another Tamil film in the near future, as his eyes are on a Bollywood career and a film with Shah Rukh Khan.
Meanwhile Rajini is also looking for a trusted producer who will be the bridge between him and the trade. The buzz is that Panju Arunachalam who has produced a lot of Rajini films in the 80's may be the chosen one. In the next couple of days he will have to zero in on a new director or let things take its own course, by starting the shoot of Robot
