Actor Rucha Gujrati, who gained immense popularity playing protagonist Suhana in ‘Bhabhi’ (Star Plus), too has become a victim of the generation leap syndrome. The show, widely watched on the afternoon slot, has moved ahead in years.
Rucha regrets, “I was portraying the young daughter-in-law convincingly, though some did feel that I looked young even for that.” She continues, “Then I heard of the next generation leap. With this jump, I would have to play a mother of a 16- year-old. I was not comfortable with the idea. I am too young to play mother to grown-ups, isn’t it?”
Wouldn’t she miss playing Suhana? “Oh, I would! In the past two and a half years, I became very attached to the show. I had come in place of Saroj (Dolly Sohi) and breaking her image was a challenge. It was a big show for me and I will feel the loss. But I guess all things have to end at the right time,” Rucha explains.
What next? “I would like to try my hand at comedy or anchoring,” she replies. Rucha is also game to participate in a reality show on the lines of ‘Bigg Boss’.
“It would be such a great learning experience. There’s so much to learn—the sense of isolation creates bonding and the need to adjust to different temperaments,” she elaborates. “I don’t mind the saas bahu fare. But I want to do roles, which suit my age,” she ends.
