Shreyas Talpade plays a prank on Riya, confuses her with number-jumbo
Picture this. It's the first day of the shoot of Apna Sapna Money Money and actor Shreyas Talpade has arrived early to discuss his character with dialogue writer Pankaj. The dialogue writer tells him to start with shot 33 as marked in the script and then go on to 96 and then 88 before the camera. Actress Riya Sen walks in jus as Shreyas is before the camera and watches him change his actions, as the director says 33 and then 88. Riya takes a seat quietly and observes for a while, wondering what's with the numbers.
Shreyas and Riya are introduced and get chatting. At the first chance, she asks Shreyas about the numbers. And he comes up with an ingenious prank idea. He says, "Riya heard me discussing shot numbers with Pankaj and she got very curious. So I decided to pull a fast one on her and said. 'They're expression-numbers. Every expression has a number. Haven't you seen the expressional manual of NSD?'"
"Riya thought that I was the good boy from Iqbal, who had done a serious role and she thought I was a pro at acting. So she fell for it," he adds.
Soon the crew members caught on to Shreyas' trick too and joined in. Riya Sen laughs as she remembers, "For three days director Sangeet Sivan would say while handing out my part, 'Riya, sit on the sofa and look alarmed' but to Shreyas he would say, Shreyas expression 56, 45 and 32!'" I felt everyone around was so learned, only I was the novice!"
Shreyas says he even went to the extent of teaching Riya a couple of expressions. He said expression 24 is Fear, but 24 A is 'slight fear' and 24 D is 'extreme, trembling fear'.
Just as Riya felt she was learning something new, Actor Anupam Kher arrived on the sets and gave the trick away. Riya says, "I went to Kherji and asked him if he knew about this as he is from NSD as well. He started laughing. It was only then I realised it was a big joke!"
Shreyas adds, "Riya took it in good spirit, hats off to her. Everyone on the sets was in splits when she found out. She's a very sweet girl and I really loved working with her in the film, may be because at the end of the day we're both mad Aquarians!"
