Neha Dhupia and squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya have split as they both chose to concentrate on their respective careers
Another actress-sportsman affair bites the dust. Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia and Indian squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya have split.
The break-up came to the fore during the Sunburn Festival that was held in Goa on December 28 and 29, 2007. Every one expected Neha and Ritwik to stick to each other and swing together at the event, but was taken aback when the duo completely ignored each other. Says an eyewitness,” We all were surprised to find Neha and Ritwik studiously avoiding each other at the event.”
A friend of Neha confirms that the two have indeed broken-up. The relationship didn't work out because Neha kept postponing the marriage on some pretext or the other.”
The friend continues, “It is true that Neha had agreed to marry Ritwik but she did not share his enthusiasm as far as marriage was concerned. She wants to have a steady career in Bollywood and hence was not to keen to jump into matrimony right away. Ritwik however, wanted her to quit films and settle down as a housewife.”
Throwing light on the other side of the picture she adds, “Conversely, there were reports that Ritwik's career was getting affected because he was in love. Hence, the pair decided to go their separate ways and concentrate on their respective careers.”
Neha and Ritwik were school buddies but they never spoke openly about their relationship, until recently. When contacted, Neha was shocked to learn that we knew she was in Goa. When quizzed about Ritwik, she says, “Ritwik and I are still good friends. As for not talking to him at the event… the music was too loud. So, how could we talk?”
