Ali had the distinction of playing in over 790 films in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. He entered the film industry as a child artiste and later proved himself as a good comedian.
Though he played hero in some films, he continued his acting career as comedian. In an interview recently, he admitted that he would play hero or any other role which will have a comedy touch. He says, 'It is SV Krishna Reddy who gave me a life as a hero.
I am indebted to him for my life.' Presently, Ali is playing hero in 'Tinnama, Padukunnama, Tellarinda' and the film is almost getting ready for release. Meanwhile, there were reports that Ali gave his nod to play hero in a film Somberi to be produced and directed by PN Ramachandra Rao. The film has story and dialogues from Jonnavittula. Presently the script is getting ready and the film may go to sets by Diwali
