Rohit Khilnani: It’s films people understand best. John Abraham: A lot of people have asked me if No Smoking is an art film because Anurag Kashyap has done a lot of films like that. I would say that it’s a very commercial film. Rohit Khilnani: Are you hoping that guys and girls who smoke watch it and give it up? John Abraham: I think smokers and their girlfriends and wives should definitely watch the film. Rohit Khilnani: Tell people who smoke what the best way to quit is. But film producer Kumar Mangat thought up a novel way of getting the cast and crew quit smoking while making his film the John Abraham-starrer No Smoking. Kumar Mangat, the producer of ``No Smoking,'' told the Mumbai Mirror newspaper that he has hired a cameraman to catch offenders in action. ``Many people try to smoke on the sly, so I have told my cameraman to be very alert at all times,'' said Mangat. ``Sometimes when caught the offenders protest that 500 rupees is too high an amount,'' the daily quoted Mangat as saying. However, he insists they pay up and plans to donate 1.12 lakh rupees collected over the past two months to a cancer hospital. For his upcoming film No Smoking, Anurag has signed up filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi to play a pivotal role. Santoshi will be playing the character of a strange, talkative doctor who persuades John Abraham to quit smoking. John plays the character of a chain smoker in the film who decides to go to a rehab centre to quit the habit. Anurag says that when he wrote the character of the doctor, he couldn’t think of anyone else but Rajkumar Santoshi to play it. This however isn’t the first time that Santoshi will be acting in a film. He was earlier seen in Santosh Sivan’s Halo in 1997 which was a children’s film in which he played the father of one more |
