 Silambarasan celebrates his birthday. Sify.com caught up with the actor who is shooting in Kumbakonam for his next film Silambattam. Excerpts of an interview We at Sify, wish you Many Many happy returns of the day… Thanks a ton. All I need is the love and blessings of my fans worldwide who have been a constant pillar of support. There was a gap of 15 months between Vallavan and your Pongal release Kaalai the film did not carry great reviews. How do you take criticisms? (Smiles) Sify.com gave my film a bad review and others followed. But let me tell you that a film review has nothing to do with box-office collections. The so-called critics except sify.com had even tore my Manmathan, but the film turned out to be a hit. My job is to give commercially viable films to my producers and distributors and your job is to review it. How is the box-office performance of Kaalai? Kaalai is an average film, no one will lose money. It was aimed at the masses as an entertainer and my fans loved it. It is doing well in B and C stations. What about the other Pongal releases. Did you watch all the other films? I saw all the films and I liked Bheema the best. I thought Trisha looked good in the film. So you have started your new film Silambattam? Yes, director Saravanan is very talented. His takings are stylish and visuals are good. It will be a commercial film and we are doing spot editing. Don Max who has done many hit films in Malayalam for Suresh Gopi action thrillers is doing a great job. The film will be ready by August. What are your plans for the day? I am not going to be in Chennai nor will I be shooting. I plan to have a quiet birthday in an undisclosed place (Laughs). This star shocked our special correspondent by saying that he doesn’t like to be called Simbu anymore. His debut in movies as a hero came in the form of 'Kaadhal Azhivathillai'. Silambarasan T-shifted his career gear after 'Kovil' a more Silambarasan’s-20-crore-project!  Silambarasan's Kettavan has been in the news – good or bad - right from the day it commenced. It is worth mentioning here that during the film's inaugural function the entire city was adorned with a variety to posters evoking curious glances from the onlookers. But this film turned a damp squib with a rift between its producers Baradhan Films and Silambarasan. Also the actor turned busy with projects like Kaalai and Silambattan requiring his attention. Later on, industry sources revealed that Simbu Cine Arts p more I-admire-Rajni---Simbhu  Silambarasan's Kaalai is fast shaping up. The young hero is shooting day and night for Kaalai directed by Tharun Gopi. Talking at the sets of Kaalai in Karaikudi, Silambarasan says,”After Vallavan, I consciously chose to take a break. Working for Vallavan was so hectic since I had to combine both the jobs of an actor and director”. “Kaalai is an interesting tale of romance with twists and turns. The story has come good and I hopeful of a success”. On his inspiration, Silambarasan, says, “I am more Simbus-Game-Plan  After Vallavan, Silambarasan is all set to commence his next Kettavan soon. Meanwhile Silambarasan has confirmed working with Thimiru fame Tharun Gopi for a movie. The film has been tentatively titled Kalaa. Trisha was assigned to play Silambarasan's heroine in the movie. With Trisha already busy playing heroine to Vikram, Vishal and Ajith, the baton has been reportedly passed to Genelia (Harini in Tamil). Genelia, introduced by Shankar in Boys. &n more Sneha-says-No-to-Simbu--  Sneha is one of the very few talented actresses in Kollywood, who can do varied roles. She has won the admiration of fans playing homely roles. She is one the very few to shun away from glamour.Now its Sneha’s turn to yearn for different character roles. Looks like the actress is tired of stereotypic roles coming her way. Sneha said that she expects roles sans any vulgarity as in Pudupettai. Pining for a role similar to the one played by Ramya Krishnan in Padayappa, Sneha said she wished to do a negative role. more Simbu-gets-a-make-over-from-Toni&Guy  Toni&Guy, the internationally reputed UK based chain with salons worldwide has given Silambarasan a new look and style for his next film Poda Podi. Silambarasan will complete all work on Silambattam and start work on Poda Podifor Gemini Film Circuit to be directed by Vignesh Siva. Remember that Sarathkumar's daughter Varalakshmi is making her debut as heroine in this film. In fact when Simbu had gone for location hunt to Toronto he had visited Toni&Guy salon and discussed about his looks for the film. more Will-Mohanbabu’s-fans-clash-with-NTR-fans- While the suspense over Yamadonga builds up ahead of its release, some people are worried about fans of the respective actors. The news about Mohan Babu putting up his own solo posters has not gone down well with NTR fans. They are now making their own arrangements to put up huge hoarding of NTR at cinema halls. And Mohan Babu’s fans too are making arrangements to put up bigger cutouts of their actor. It may turn ugly at some place, as the fans of the two actors may clash over the size and location of the cutouts. Let us hope it does not get serious like the one seen in Tamil Nadu where the fans of Ajith and Trisha clashed over the size of the cutouts. more |
