![]() Silambarasan celebrates his birthday. Sify.com caught up with the actor who is shooting in Kumbakonam for his next film Silambattam. Excerpts of an interview We at Sify, wish you Many Many happy returns of the day… Thanks a ton. All I need is the love and blessings of my fans worldwide who have been a constant pillar of support. There was a gap of 15 months between Vallavan and your Pongal release Kaalai the film did not carry great reviews. How do you take criticisms? (Smiles) Sify.com gave my film a bad review and others followed. But let me tell you that a film review has nothing to do with box-office collections. The so-called critics except sify.com had even tore my Manmathan, but the film turned out to be a hit. My job is to give commercially viable films to my producers and distributors and your job is to review it. How is the box-office performance of Kaalai? Kaalai is an average film, no one will lose money. It was aimed at the masses as an entertainer and my fans loved it. It is doing well in B and C stations. What about the other Pongal releases. Did you watch all the other films? I saw all the films and I liked Bheema the best. I thought Trisha looked good in the film. So you have started your new film Silambattam? Yes, director Saravanan is very talented. His takings are stylish and visuals are good. It will be a commercial film and we are doing spot editing. Don Max who has done many hit films in Malayalam for Suresh Gopi action thrillers is doing a great job. The film will be ready by August. What are your plans for the day? I am not going to be in Chennai nor will I be shooting. I plan to have a quiet birthday in an undisclosed place (Laughs).
