His last release Lady in the Water sank without a splash but supernatural Manoj Night Shyamalan is back with another nail-biting thriller, The Happening.
The director's return is happening indeed because Shyamlan is back in India after nine years and this time as a Padma Shri.
"It's a great honour and I had my whole family calling me up to say how huge it is. I did not realise until then," said Shyamalan.
And if you fell off the seat watching Sixth Sense or the Signs then wait for The Happenning.
Shyamlan says he has crossed the horror limit this time. "It is the scariest film I have made by far and I hope it will do very well in India and globally," says the director.
And how has India changed in the years since he last visited? "I see that the middle class here has really made it so big, it is amazing."
And he says one thing he would want to take back to US is "I really want to click some pictures of the Gateway of India, it's beautiful."
