Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty's debut musical, Miss Bollywood, will hit Berlin on September 29, bringing the European audience closer to the grandeur, opulence and true essence of the world's largest film industry.
"I am very excited and happy that I have been given this opportunity," a beaming Shilpa Shetty, winner of the Celebrity Big Brother show here earlier this year said Wednesday.
"I am extremely proud of doing this musical. Whatever I do, I should be able to justify and hope people enjoy it," she said.
The 32-year-old Mangalore-born Shilpa Shetty, who has acted in over 50 films including box office hits like 'Baazigar', 'Main Khiladi tu Anari' and 'Dhadkan', said so far all musicals connected with Bollywood including 'Bombay Dreams' figured actors from outside Bollywood and "this is the first time a Bollywood actress performs in a Bollywood musical that caters to international audience."
"For India, Bollywood is not new, but for Western market it is," she said adding that the musical will have a two-month-long tour of Germany, Holland and the UK.
She will perform at the famous Royal Albert Hall in London on December 12.
Asked why the musical, produced by Farhath Hussain, is first launched in Berlin, she said "We got the suitable venue in Berlin at that time. Besides, Germany is very proud and supportive of Indian dance and music."
