The commercial operations at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport at Shamshabad will commence from March 23. The operations are delayed due to some disagreement over the ground handling charges at Shamshabad.

Some private airline operators took objection to the high rates quoted by the private handling companies. The problem has now been sorted out and the airport will commence commercial operations in a couple of days. The civil aviation ministry has issued a notification to this effect today.

However the road connectivity to Shamshabad from the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad remains a big problem and it is expected to take a few more months for the road widening works along the road to Shamshabad to be completed.
