It is becoming increasing common in Tollywood for directors to turn producers. The trend has gathered momentum in the recent past. The lates entrance to this genre is director Samudra. He has directed the recent hit 'Evadithe Naakenti'. Samudra is setting up a production house with the help of his friends. He has roped in Kalyan Ram to act in the maiden film under his banner.
The film will be a remake of the Tamil film 'Sivakasi' starring Vijay and Asin Vedika is likely to play the lead role opposite Kalyan Ram in the film. Puri Jagannath , EVV Sathyanarayan and K Raghavendra Rao have all set up their own banners to produce and direct their films. The reason cited by them is that directing a film under their own banner gives them complete freedom to make the film, which is otherwise not possible with outside banner films.
