Salman Khan plans to revive producer J.P. Singh's London Dreams which was shelved long ago. The film was shelved after a few scenes were shot at the Golden Temple at Amritsar by director Rajkumar Santoshi. Santoshi had then cast Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra in the lead.
The movie is all about a rock band in England. Salman and Ajay play childhood friends, who are also rock musicians. Santoshi had planned a lot of Western actors for the film. Eighty per cent of the film was to be shot in London and the remaining portion in India.
A source says, "It is not known whether the producer and director plan the film with the same starcast, but Singh went to meet Salman at his farm house in Panvel. He got kebabs, specially made from Delhi for Salman and narrated his grievances about the film getting shelved. The producer, it is said, had to sell two of his bungalows to repay Rs 10 crore that he had taken from financiers for the film. On hearing his grievances, Salman decided to help the producer. He called Santoshi immediately and asked him to revive the project. Singh had tears in his eyes with Salman's gesture."
Our source adds, "Singh had then made payments to all the cast and crew. Santoshi was paid Rs 3.5 crore, Salman was paid Rs 2 crore, Ajay got Rs 1.5 crore, Preity was paid Rs 1 crore and Priyanka was paid Rs 1.5 crore. It is also said that Eros had also acquired the film for a Rs 40 crore deal. But hearing of the deal, director Santoshi had demanded an extra Rs 8 crore from the producer. When Singh refused to pay more, problems cropped up and finally the project was shelved."
