 Leading comedy writers and director duo Rafi & Mecartin have turned producers with the Dileep film Romeo , directed by their mentor Rajasenan. The last film Rajasenan did with Rafi & Mecartin as writers was that comedy riot Anniyan Bava Chettan Bava, 12 years back! Now Rafi & Mecartin as independent producers are once again writing Rajasenan's script for Romeo , which going to be a comedy festival. The entire shoot of the film was completed in one single schedule in Ottapalam and Shornur, and now post-production work is going on and film is releasing on December 21.  Dileep needs a hit badly, to revive his career as the comedy king. Romeo is packaged to show his ability as a mass comic hero. He plays Manu a male home nurse in a clinic, who is always romantically inclined and romances Vimala and Samvrutha at the same time! For the first time Sooraj Venjaranmoodu, the fastest rising comedian in Malayalam cinema, known for his Thiruvananthapuram slang usages is Dileep's comedy partner. The others in the cast are Cochin Haneefa, Bheeman Reghu, Riza Bava, Asokhan and host of comedians. Romeo has music by Alex Paul, and camera is by K.P Nambiathiri.

The film was censored and got a clean "U" certificate and is said to be a rip-roaring comedy with Dileep and Sooraj Venjaranmoodu bringing the house down with their antics. The song Kilichundan Mavile… is already a chartbuster. It is Dileep's first film with Vimala. Romeo is releasing five months after Dileep's last release July 4, a more Allu-Arjun-from-Desamuduru-to-Romeo Allu Arjun is now turning into a ‘Romeo’ after playing ‘Desamuduru’. His new film with Bommarillu Bhaskar is progressing briskly. Sheela of ‘Hello Premisthara’ fame is the heroine. Dil Raju is the producer. Many titles like ‘Vaaradhi’ did the round initially. But the director felt that the titles were a bit old fashioned and did not reflect the image of Allu Arjun. So the title ‘Romeo’ is now in consideration. A tagline ‘Need Juliet’ is also likely to be used. The title will be confirmed in a few days. Now another film with a similar title is in progress. Tarun and Genelia’s new film has also been titled as ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Vijayabhaskar is the director. It was earlier thought that the movie may clash with Romeo, Dileep"s Christmas release. However, the movie further got delayed and is now slated for release on January 18.
