One time heroine and now Telugu Mahila chief, Roja was arrested by the Tirupathi police this afternoon. Roja was protesting against belt shops. She staged a dharna outside the excise office in Tirupathi She later attacked a belt shop in Jeevanakona area in Tirupathi area and damaged the shop.
The police have taken her and some other TDP workers into custody for attacking belt shops. Roja said that she would not launch a state-wide agitation will not rest until all the belt shops are closed down.
Roja does not seem to realize that many of the belt shops run on the patronage of powerful political leaders, not just from the ruling congress party but also from her own TDP.
