The journey across Tamil Nadu to recognize the excellence of professionals in the Tamil film industry has just begun.
Reliance Mobile Vijay Awards, the annual film awards show for Tamil Cinema conducted in 2006 by Vijay TV, was a phenomenal success and witnessed myriad of celebrities, top-notch film technicians and many ardent movie buffs. The event received an overwhelming response and the common man had a chance to vote for his favorite film star.
Vijay TV is back with the second edition of these awards as much bigger, better and bolder this time; an event to recognize the excellence of professionals in the Tamil film industry, for movies released in the year 2007.
The flag off of the ‘Rasigan Express’ – a publicity van created for the Vijay Awards was held at Chennai City Centre on March 20. Minister Parithi Ilamvazuthi inaugurated the flag off ceremony and special invitees Ramanarayanan, president of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council, S. A Chandrasekhar, the president of the Tamil Film Directors’ Association, Sarath Kumar the resident of the Tamil Actors Union and Vijayan the president of the Film Employee’s Federation of South India were also present.
The ‘Rasigan Express’ van would travel to Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy Tanjore and Vilupuram. The Vijay Awards ‘Rasigan Express’ would be a platform for the public to file their nominees in the Favorite categories.
For 107 movies released in 2007 there will be 30 award categories, in which four award categories will be chosen by the fans in Tamil Nadu and the remaining 26 categories will be decided by an esteemed jury. The four award categories to be decided by the public are Favorite Hero , Favorite Heroine, Favorite Director and Favorite Film. The voting for the Favorite categories will be available on SMS, IVR and online.
The Jury members comprises of Actor/Director Bagyaraj, Popular Writer/Director/Producer Yugi Sethu, Film Critic/Cartoonist Madan and Lizzy Priyadarshan.
Best Film, Best Actor Male/Female, Best Supporting Actor Male/Female, Best Comedian, Best Villian, Best Playback Singer Male/Female, Best Debut Actor Male/Female, Best Choreographer, Best Film Editor, Best Lyricist, Best Art Director are few of the awards that will be selected by the Jury members.
The initial episodes of Reliance Mobile Vijay Awards will begin to air from March 30, Sundays 2pm on Vijay TV. The early episodes of the show will be hosted by ‘Neeya Naana’ Gopinath.
The countdown begins to the biggest star-studded awards ceremony to honor the Tamil film industry.
