The RK banner which has been lying dormant for years will soon be revived if Ranbir Kapoor has his way. Ranbir, who will be making his acting debut with Saawariya this Friday, plans to carry the legacy ahead and direct a film for his family's production house.
However, Ranbir promises that his directorial debut will be nothing like the projects that have so far emerged from RK. He declares that his film, which he intends to direct within the next two years, will be very cool and contemporary. It will be entertaining and relevant, is what he promises. Unknown to his parents, Rishi and Neetu, Ranbir has been working on a script for the past two years.
He feels that there is a director which is lurking inside him from even before the actor in him surfaced. The actor has watched all of his grandfather, Raj Kapoor's films and insists that he is very sure of what he intends to do. The only other thing that he is willing to reveal about the film is that he would like to cast his father to act opposite him. The last film from the RK banner was Rishi Kapoor's Aa Ab Laut Chalen in 1999. Randhir Kapoor completed his father's Indo-Pak project Henna in 1991. The younger brother, Raajiv made Prem Granth in 1997.
