Rakhi Sawant, who has been rumoured to have split with her live-in boyfriend Abhishek, has been signed by Yash Raj Films for their forthcoming venture.
The film stars Shahid Kapur and Rani Mukherji in the lead and is being directed by Anurag Singh. The film is scheduled to go on floors in March 2008. An inside source reveals, " Rakhi has a beau tiful role. She plays a dancer from the Bhand samaj who performs nautanki. Rakhi , who has always been projected as an item girl, will be seen in a different light with this role. It is going to be the role of a lifetime for Rakhi She will play a bold and beautiful girl with bold dialogues and of course beautiful dances to perform. Right now Aditya Chopra has kept everything under wraps and has even asked Rakhi not to talk about it."
Our source says, "This is the first time that Rani and Shahid will be sharing screen space. The last time they worked together was for a Pepsi commercial that they did a couple of years ago. In fact, at that time Shahid was a struggling newcomer. If this project works out, things will change for the actor."
Currently, Rani has only one film with director Kunal Kohli. This is the next film that she is doing for the chosen banner.
Director Anurag had worked with Rakesh Roshan for a few years. Later he was the associate director on Dhoom 2.
