After Sivaji , Rajinikanth has appeared in a numerous range of western trendy outfits in his upcoming bilingual film Kuselan in Tamil and Kathnayakadu in Telugu. In the film he is paired with the gorgeous Nayanthara. It is directed by ace director P Vasu and is produced by K Balachander’s Kavithalaya Films and Seven Arts together. Music for the film has been scored by G V Prakash. The film is releasing on July 25.

Addressing a press meet, P Vasu said, “The shooting and dubbing of the film is over and the recording is still happening.” It is about two childhood friends who follow their own path as they grow up, one ends up being a poor barber struggling for a living while the other becomes a superstar in films. What happens when they meet after many long years is what the film is all about.

Pasupathy plays the poor barber while Rajinikant is the superstar. Vasu also added that “Pasupathy’s contribution is immense and he has lived the story.” The others in the cast are Khusboo, Meena, Vijayakumar, Vadivelu, Sneha , Nizhalgal Ravi and Prabhu. According to Vasu, “the music rights have been lapped by Big Music for 2.25 crores and the film has been bought by Pramid Saimira.” It has been shot on an extensive set at the Ramoji Rao Film City and some parts of Allapey in Kerala.

Adds Vasu, “Rajinikanth’s contribution to the film also has been enormous. And without his co-operation, it wouldn’t have been possible to complete the film in 82 days, in both the languages. We have also planned to shoot a song commemorating the 75th year of Tamil cinema with Kuselan which will also have actors like Vijay, Ajith, Simbu, Vikram , Trishaa and many others. The lyrics has been written by Valee.

The superstar in Bengali remake
Rajinikanth is soon planning to act in a Bengali film titled Bhagyadevatha directed by choreographer Raghuram. The actor has also done a cameo in the original version. Raghuram also did a role as an intelligence officer like Kamal Hassan did in Dasavatharam. He had a huge response from the audience. Raghuram also added that “Rajinikanth has expressed his interest to act in the Tamil version and I will also direct it soon.”

Meanwhile, the bilingual Kuselan has undergone a change in name in Telugu. From Kucheladu it is now changed to Kathanayakadu which is being remade from the Malayalam film Kathaparayumbol. The audio launch of the film is likely to be held on June 30.
