Talking to DT, Rahul Bose says he is an actor who loves playing different roles and not a star. He also says that he is married to his NGO, rugby and acting.
Why not play a villain? I’m keen to experiment. After every two or three years I get bored of my work and start thinking in other directions. It is at this time when I tell myself, ‘Why not play a typical Hindi film villain in Thakshak ?
I also think that I should do a musical comedy and after a couple of minutes, my mind shifts to the idea of playing a romantic character. What I want to convey is that I like to act in different genres of cinema. In fact, now I want to do an action film. It might not suit my image, but I still want to give it a try.
I don’t think I’m a star: This is no false modesty, but a fact. You need to have charisma to be a film star. I think I am only an actor, who is sometimes popular. I would have been a writer or an architect if not an actor. When I say architect, I’d like to add that the dynamics of space impress me a lot. In Cairo recently, I was impressed with the temple architecture.
The lesser known facts about me...
I have a house in Kasauli. The year before my mother died, we were spending a vacation there. I had to visit Delhi to find out my graduation result.
However, the result was postponed and I returned home. The look on my mother’s face was brilliant. It was a lovely moment.
Another special moment was when I represented India for the first time in Singapore in a rugby match. We lost badly and I started crying when our national anthem was played. It was still one of the proudest moments of my life. Though my friends advise me against it, I still cry.
I am married:
I am married to my NGO, rugby and my acting. I haven’t been able to find space and time for a woman yet. And with the kind of routine I have, any woman would leave me.
