Rani Mukherji in a rare interview talks about Konkona hitting her on the nose and the special bonding that she shared with Jaya (Bachchan)
If there were rumours of Jaya (Bachchan) and Rani (Mukherji) not sharing great vibes on the sets of ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’, Rani is ready to squash them.
She says, “I have great memories of shooting for the film. On the very first day of the shoot in Benaras, Konkona was supposed to be playing with this rattle and suddenly it flew and hit my nose! My nose started bleeding and I got really anxious because I was worried my nose will swell up and spoil the first day of the shoot! Fortunately the unit had a first aid kit which was summoned for my rescue and things got sorted out soon.
We were like this one big Bengali family who kept eating all the time. It was really a lot of fun because Dada (Pradeep Sarkar , the director of the film), Konkona, Jayaji and me were all speaking to each other in Bengali. We even joked that if we don’t start talking in Hindi, the film might just turn out to be a Bengali one.”
Though there was a bit of controversy with Rani allegedly having an altercation with the media in Benaras, she says she loved being in Benaras. “In Benaras, we were shooting in this Haveli by the Ganga ghat. It was one of the most relaxing and soothing places I have ever visited. The sunset at the Ganga Ghats is to die for. We would look forward to the evenings when we would sit by the Ganges and de-stressed ourselves, totally.”
