There is a lot of furore in the Telugu Desam camp. Union minister Daggubati Purandareswari has called chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy as the true successor to the late N T Rama Rao. The comments have been made keeping in mind his schemes like two-rupees-a-kilo rice and other popular measures.
The TDP MP Yerram Naidu and others took strong objection to the use of N T Rama Rao’s name. They said that Purandareswari has no right to take N T Rama Rao’s name. She is free to praise her party chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy but using NTR’s name was highly objectionable.
But other senior leaders like Devender Goud and Srihari were very guarded in their reaction. They said that it was a ‘family’ matter and hence would not like to comment on it. The TDP leaders are waiting for Babu to first say something on the issue and only after that they will choose to react. Even Janardhana Reddy is surprisingly silent over the issue.
