A family that prays together stays together.
Like the Bawejas. In the last three years, the entire family went through a number of low points, as Javed Akhtar and Boman Irani put it, just to see Harry Baweja’s dream film, where he launches son Harman, take shape. And finally, after blessings and a lot of dedication, the film took shape, and a gigantic one at that! Glimpses of Baweja’s triumph could be gauged through the music release of Harman’s debut vehicle, starring Priyanka Chopra opposite him.
The event held at the JW Marriott on Wednesday was a late starter, but that extra time only kept the guests gathered anticipating the extravaganza that lay ahead. One of the early entrants was Raveena Tandon with hubby Anil Thadani. The ‘cameratti’ immediately converged on the couple. Javed Akhtar and Boman too were besieged by the shutterbugs as they entered, with many clamouring the erudite men for soundbytes. Boney Kapoor was also there, in good spirits, Karan Johar and Madhur Bhandarkar made a brief appearance later on while Sonali Bendre and her husband Goldie Behl were the cynosure of most eyes.
Harry Baweja made an emotional speech after which Boman and Anu Malik spoke about how important the film was for them. Harman then made quite a swachbuckling entry, during which one guest shouted “Hrithik!” As the guests repaired for dinner, the main point of conversation amongst everybody was how good the movie would be.
The two women behind the Baweja men were Pammi, Harman’s mother, and his sister Rowena, who held fort all through. Ramesh Taurani, Ritesh Sidhwani, Boney Kapoor, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Paksitani actress Meera, Sophie Choudry, Sanjay Kapoor, Samita Bangargi and Ashish Choudhary and a much chubbier looking Amarr Upadhyay along with his wife were among the other guests who came to join the celebrations.
