The mainstream star has an impressive line-up of offbeat films in her kitty, reports Joginder Tuteja
Pretty girl Preity Zinta is changing tracks with a vengeance. With an obvious attempt at shedding away her ‘bubbly’ tag, especially after the lukewarm response that her high profile films Jaan-E-Mann and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom received, Preity has headed for art house fare. Here’s a preview of what’s coming up for mainstream cinema’s frontliner.
Har Pall
Cast: Preity, Shiney Ahuja, Dharmendra, Esha Koppikhar and Lillette Dubey
Director: Jahnu Barua
It’s probable that Har Pall would be Preity Zinta’s first release in 2008. Directed by multiple National award-winner Jahnu Barua (made his Hindi film debut with Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara), the film pairs Shiney Ahuja opposite Preity.
They play neighbours. According to Jahnu, Har Pall is ‘a love story with a bigger human aspect to it. Produced by Tony Juneja, the film has been extensively shot in Mumbai. Jahnu has also shot extensively in his home ground Shillong and also Kolkata. The film largely dwells on the concept that every moment of life is important and must be cherished.
Heroes
Cast: Preity, Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Sohail Khan
Director: Samir Karnik
This is the first episodic film of Preity Zinta’s career. Here she acts under the baton of director Samir Karnik, who is changing tracks after the debacle of the mainstream Kyun Ho Gaya Naa. After Nanhe Jaisalmer , he gets experimental once again with Heroes which was earlier titled Mere Bharat Mahaan.
