After the unanimous thumbs-up from both critics and movie-goers for his latest film Chak De India, superstar Shah Rukh Khan has yet another pat on the back from none other than the President of India, Pratibha Patil, who watched the film at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the Capital on Friday.
The screening was attended by Khan himself along with its producer Yash Chopra, director Shimit Amin and writer Jaideep Sahni.
Khan describes the evening as a significant one, and considers it special for more reasons than one.
“When you do a film like Chak De India which is about women’s empowerment what could be more empowering than the country’s President being a lady and a wonderful one at that? I though she was very sweet and unassuming. I sat with her and her husband, Mr Shekhawat. That’s the beauty of women. The most powerful lady in the country made me feel like I was talking to my aunt, mother or mother’s sister. It felt so easy talking to her,” he said.
“I had to leave the screening post-interval to get back to work. But she asked me about my health as I was not feeling well. She told me, ‘This is such a different film. How did you think of it?’ I asked her if she watched films regularly and she said she didn’t but she knew films were of a similar genre and this was so different. She loved the film,” said Shah Rukh.
