The hottest competition that’s going on at present in Tamil filmdom is not between Vijay and Ajit, Trisha and Nayantara or Dhanush and Simbu: it’s between Nadhiya, the tried and tested heroine of yesteryears, and Simran , who has recently slipped out of favour with her producers and her legion of fans.
The much-married actresses are seemingly in a competition to get those sister, sister-in-law, and if possible, the heroine’s roles, if the producers are willing. Nadhiya, who has been in amazingly great shape despite her self-imposed break of many years from Tamil film, faces tough challenge from Simran , who desperately wants to make an impression in Tamil and break the ‘myth’ of married actresses getting neglected here and elsewhere.
The annoying part though is the exorbitant fee demanded by these two actresses, which is equal to, if not more than, the heroine’s fee. Simran pins a lot of hopes on Hari’s ‘Seval’ and hopes once this film releases, she will be in demand once again. Similarly, Nadhiya, who plays the lead in ‘Pattalam’ which is produced by director Lingusamy, is hoping for many more offers after ‘Pattalam’.
