Only drabs flooded theatres in Kochi last month. It was a torrent of Tamil movies that added chill to the gloom. Even Mohanlals Rock n Roll could not warm up the scene. The only relief was Shah Rukh Khans high-budget Om Shanti Om But now, a couple of Malayalam films are waiting to hit the screen to spice up the festive season.
From the talks back fence, Dileeps Romeo , Mohanlals Flash and Prithvirajs Kangaroo would surely beat the wintry days of Christmas. Alongside is Jayaram with his latest flick Novel.
Romeo is a hilarious comedy set in a hospital backdrop. Dileep plays a male nurse who finds time to watch reality Shows on various TV channels. He gets fascinated to one of the show anchors enacted by Samvrita Sunil.
He, at the same time, manages his love with the doctor at the hospital played by Vimala Raman As he has a soft spot for singers - especially females - he even finds time to love the singer nicknamed S.Janaki played by new-find Smrithi. Rafi, producer and scriptwriter of the movie, says he and Mecartin have planned the story to give hundred percent comedy to the audience. Manu Krishnan (Dileep) falls into a situation where all the girls love him and the comedy is in how he solves the issue, he says. The film is directed by Rajasenan.
Flash is a suspense thriller going through certain disturbing experiences the central character Dhwani (Notebook fame Parvathy) faces. Mithun Madhavan (Mohanlal) is a Mumbai-based IT industrialist. Priyan (Indrajith) is a software engineer working for Mithun. Priyan falls in love with Dhwani who happens to be his uncles daughter. Mithun, on a vacation to Kerala, meets Dhwani, who also happens to be his sisters friend. It was the time when she faced heavy blows in life. But Mithun enters to block all woes. Who Dhwani takes into her life is the crux of the movie.
After Hello, Jagathy teams with Lal as Idea Sasi. Eighteen-year-old Parvathy happens to be Mohanlals youngest ever heroine in recent times. Sibi Malayil once again joins hands with Mohanlal after a seven-year break in Flash. Music director Gopi Sundar and Tamil actor Ponvannan debut in Malayalam with the film.
Even as his film Chocolate released during Ramzan is running to full houses in various centres in the state, Prithviraj is consolidating his presence with his latest film Kangaroo waiting to break open for Christmas. Despite being a graduate, Josekutty (Prithviraj) takes up the job of an auto driver to support his family.
Once, when he finds a one-and-half-year-old child on a street, he decides to bring up the child himself. Kavya Madhavan plays the female lead. Jayasurya is also part of the star cast. Raj Babu, director of the movie, claims that Kangaroo will be a full-fledged entertainer. Scripted by J Pallassery, the movie is produced by Isabella Movie Tone. Salu George handles the camera.
East Coast Vijayan - noted music album producer - debuts in direction with his maiden venture Novel. Jayaram plays the lead role of a music industrialist who pushes his life through producing albums. Sada comes into his studio as a new talent to sing for one of his albums. Her beautiful voice enchants the hero and she is appointed for singing for his company.
During work, she accidentally finds a few scribbled paper bunches and on finding that they were novels written by her boss, she sends them for publication. Jayaram gets the commonwealth award for his book. This is the first full-length Malayalam feature film for Anniyan fame Sada , who has earlier appeared in an item song in Janmam.
Many scenes of the film have been shot at Kuala Lumpur including the climax song. The film is for people who still keep love in a corner of their hearts, says Vijayan. The songs have been written by the director and music scored by M. Jayachandran and Balabhaskar.
Mammootty fans need not despair about Roudram being postponed to January. Kadha Parayumbol, produced by Sreenivasan and Mukesh, is scheduled to hit the screens before Christmas. Sreenivasan appears in the role of a village barber Balan and Mammootty in the role of the super star Ashok Raj.
The barber who was nobody in the village suddenly shoots to fame as the secret of his school friendship with the super star Ashok Raj spreads when a film unit camps in the village. Mukesh appears in the role of a parallel college tutor in the film. Meena plays Sreenivasans wife, who makes a living out of selling goats milk.
