Actor Moushumi Chatterjee indulged her sweet tooth without any guilt when asked to pack on weight for a new movie, a newspaper said on Monday.
``To begin with I stopped going to the gym and would shamelessly eat whatever people would give me,'' the Mumbai Mirror newspaper quoted Chatterjee as saying. ``I would make it a point to have loads of ice cream with hot chocolate after every meal. It felt so good.''
Chatterjee, a famous actress in the 1970s, was asked to gain weight for her role as the aunt of an schoolteacher played by Rahul Bose, who falls in love with his pen pal, a Japanese girl played by actress Chigasu Takaku in ``The Japanese Wife.''
She is expected to stick to her calorie-heavy diet until June, when filming ends.
``I am an extremely health-conscious person otherwise. But I used this opportunity to pamper myself,'' she said in the newspaper, reeling off a list of Indian sweets and snacks she said she ate over the past two weeks.
Chatterjee plays a woman who loves to cook and eating in the new movie, directed by well-known filmmaker Aparna Sen.
Known for her sharp sense of comic timing, Chatterjee has acted in more than 80 Indian movie since the late 1960s. Her latest releases were ``Bollywood/Hollywood'' and ``Zindagi Rocks,'' or ``Life Rocks.''
