Surprising to learn that more number of Telugu films had got adult rating in 2006 when compared with previous year. On an average, there are about 25 per cent films which were awarded A certificate by the Censor Board in 2006, while their number is just 15 per cent in 2005. Likewise, the number of films that were given U/A certificate is 35 per cent.
More interesting feature is that the number of films which got A certificate were from the popular and top heroes. Few to mention here is Pokiri of Maheshbabu, Khatarnak of Raviteja, Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw of Rajendraprasad. At the same time the films which bagged U/A certificate include Stalin of Chiranjeevi , Bangaram of Pawan kalyan and Ashok of NTR T Vijaykumar Reddy, regional officer of the Central Board of Film Certification, Hyderabad, attributes the reason for the phenomenon to the strict implementation of rules.
The Censor Board has also made it mandatory for film producers to display the certification even on film trailers. Responding to this, noted producer K.S. Rama Rao admitted that violence has gone up in films.
