While playing Thakur Baldev Singh in Sholay, the actor screamed himself hoarse

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was unprepared for what lay in store for him when he was in Mumbai busy shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's Sholay. The actor reprises the role of Thakur Baldev Singh, originally played by Sanjeev Kumar.
Mohanlal lost his voice while enacting some dramatic scenes for Ramu's Sholay on Diwali day. “The scenes were very dramatic. They required me to scream and shout a lot. I’ve almost lost my voice as my throat is stressed,” whispers Mohanlal.
However, this did not stop Mohanlal from shooting and he continued working on the day after Diwali “I continued shooting because it had to be completed and I’ve to return home in two days,” adds Mohanlal.
Ramu says, “We’ve been shooting solo scenes with Mohanlal during Diwali. The scenes required Mohanlal to scream a lot. That must have resulted in Mohanlal losing his voice. I’m sure he'll be fine soon.”
In the past, the actor is known to be very selective about his roles in Hindi films and was last seen in Ram Gopal Varma’s Company where he played an honest police officer.
