The big league may have been elusive for Minissha Lamba, but the actor feels this year has the potential to churn out a completely different story for her. As Samar Khan's Shaurya is ready to hit the theatres, she is clearly excited.
"The film is an intense drama revolving around the Army and it has touched facets like court martial and takes a deep hard look into the system. I play a journalist who is on the hunt for a scoop that will be her ticket to fame. Her character gets passionately involved in the situation and eventually her personal gains take a back seat and it evolves on humanitarian issue," she says. The story line seems to be on similar tracks as A Few Good Men, but the actor explains that the similarity doesn't go too far. "The film is Hollywood's most famous work in this genre, so any movie that is centred around lives of defence personnel inevitably has to face such compar isons. The plot is different and it's in the backdrop of Kashmir," she tells us.
Speaking about her experience, she says, "Working with such a powerhouse of talent like Rahul Bose, Kay Kay Menon and Javed Jaffrey will inspire any actor to put her best foot forward. I have always been fascinated by journalism, someone like Christian Amanpour certainly is an inspiration." Shaurya's subject can pro vide fodder for controversies, but the Yahaan girl begs to differ, "A lot of hard work has gone into making the film and ultimately the army as an institution comes out unscathed in the film. It's simply an attempt to scratch beneath the surface."
Minissha's other pro jects include Yash Raj banner's Bach Na Ae Haseeno and Kidnap , "Sounds clichéd but every actor dreams of doing a Yash Raj film and I feel privileged. Kidnap is a story of a father's resolve to bring back his kidnapped daughter. All the three films belong to different genres and that leaves enough scope for versatility. I couldn't have asked for more," she concludes.
