The release of Jimmy has been pushed back from April 18 to mid-May. The trade buzz is that Sahara, which was supposed to release Mimoh
Chakraborty's debut film, backed out at the last minute. But producer Nawman Malik denies this, saying the film was postponed to avoid a clash with the star-studded Tashan, set to open on April 25.
"We would have been sandwiched between a trio of biggies, U Me Aur Hum and Krazzy 4 which released last week, and Tashan and weren't getting the right chain of theatres," informs Malik.
He admits that he was in talks with Sahara and the deal didn't work out.
"I was getting a better offer from another corporate house," he asserts but refuses to name it saying he will make an official announcement in a couple of days.
Too busy
Quiz him on why Mimoh didn't come for the music release and he points out that even Harman Baweja stayed away from the unveiling of Love Story 2050.
"What's the big deal," he shrugs. "Today, youngsters don't want to waste time attending parties. Mimoh was shooting for Loot in Bangkok. But the rest of the cast, including his father Mithun was there."
Nawman is planning another film with Mimoh titled Mausam but he won't be repeating his Jimmy director Raj N Sippy. He says, "I've couple of names in my mind. It'll have one more actor besides Mimoh."
