![]() The centre has cleared the ambitious Metro Rail project of the state government. Chief minster YS Rajashekar Reddy announced this at a media conference this evening. The Metro Rail will cover a distance of 71 kilometers in three routes. The routes are Jubilee Bus Station to Falaknuma, Nagole to Shilparamam and Miyapur to LB Nagar. About 71 new stations will come up along the routes. The project entails an expenditure of 9696 crores. The government proposes to complete the project in public-private participation. The bids for the project will be called for on April 18.

A Delhi Metro Rail Bridge which is under construction was collapsed in the early hours of Sunday. Six persons including a young engineer were killed in the mishap. According to sources, one of the pillar of the bridge developed cracks few weeks ago. Though it was repeatedly complained to the Contractor by the concerned authorities, it was not properly attended. Experts opine that this may be the root cause of the mishap. The bridge starts tilting a side when the 30 construction workers start loading a prefabricated slab on to it.
