INDIAN music fans will be treated to performances by two legendary singers at the Desert Symphony concert, taking place during the Eid holidays next month.
Slated for October 14, the open-air concert will see a live performance by singer KS Chitra and former Colonial Cousins member Hariharan.
The event - to be be held at the Pakistan School, Isa Town - will be the first time when the pair will be performing together in Bahrain, and simultaneously marks the return of Hariharan to Bahrain, having last performed here 10 years ago.
A troupe of 12 acclaimed musicians will add to the show and will perform Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil songs using traditional Indian rhythm and percussion instruments.
"The audience can expect ghazals, semi-classical, Hindustani and Carnatic music as well," said Synergy Middle East event organiser Vinod Patric.

Chitra, popularly known as the Nightingale of South India's film industry, has lent her voice to Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Oriya, Hindi and Bengali films.
Having recorded thousands of film and non-film songs during her career, numerous recognitions have come her way including six National Awards for best female playback singer.
She has also won awards for contributions to films including Sindhu Bhairavi, Nakhaksthangal, Vaishali, Minsaara Kanavu, Virasat, and 2004's Autograph.
She holds the unique honour of being the first to be recognised by all the four state governments in South India as the best playback singer.
Chithra has performed all over India, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, France, the US, Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka, Germany, Switzerland, Norway and Denmark.
Considered one of the pioneers of Indian fusion music, Hariharan needs no introduction.
The son of renowned Carnatic vocalists, Shrimati Alamelu and the late HAS Mani, Hariharan inherited his parents' musical talents.
He picked up Carnatic music skills from his mother, who was also his first guruji or teacher.
His Gulfam album, went double platinum in sales and also fetched him the Diva Award for the Best Album of the Year in 1994 while his rendition of the song Mere Dost Mere Bhai earned him the 1998 National Award for the best playback singer.
Credimax has been named the event presenter, while Centerpoint is the Title Sponsor and Qatar Airways the Official Airline.
The InterContinental Regency Hotel, meanwhile, is the event's official host.
Media Support comes from the Gulf Daily News and 104.2 Voice FM while KSDi and Union Press were named the official photographers and printers respectively.
Tickets are BD25 for four in the Family Circle, BD10 for three people in the Friends Circle and BD2 for individuals in the Desert Circle.
Proceeds will be donated to the Bahrain Down Syndrome Society, and tickets will be available at the Riffa Mall and the Marina Mall soon, with more points of sale in coming weeks. Contact Mr Patric on 36066022 or Satheesh D'Costa on 39166165 for more information.
