We've all heard of evergreen heroes in Indian Cinema, and of heroines ending up as mothers of stars they once romanced around trees! But the story of actor Meena takes the cake.
24 years ago, she played a child star alongside Rajinikanth. A decade later, she co-starred with Rajini in three movies! Today, Meena is back in a role with the superstar in the soon to be released movie Kuselan.
Rajinikanth is undoubtedly the star attraction in Kuselan. Despite his extended cameo role, he eclipses the hero Pasupathi.
Meena had played the lead role in the Malayalam version of Kuselan and Rajini was keen on having her for Tamil and Telugu as well.
"It's a very innocent character. A happy go lucky girl's role. Though I am playing the mother of two, you don't feel it in the character." Meena told NDTV.
Her acting career dates back to the 1984 movie Anbulla Rajinikanth. The Superstar played Rajini Uncle for Meena in the movie . She then went on to play heroine for Rajinikanth in Ejamaan, Veera and Muthu.
Meena is also the only leading female star to act with Rajini in six movies.
"He is a very simple person. He makes everyone with him and in the sets very comfortable. Working with him is too easy. He doesn't behave like a superstar when he is on the sets." Meena said.
Kuselan is Meena's first Tamil movie in more than two years . And she's banking on the Rajini magic to regain lost ground.
