 The Mathrubhumi-P.S.S. Film Awards 2007 have been announced. The Tamil movie Pokkiri has been judged as the best film and its director Prabhudeva as best director. Nayantara has been selected as best actress for her performance in the Tamil film E and Vijay, the best actor for Pokkiri. Awards for the best director and actors carry a cash award of Rs.50,000 each and the best film Rs.1 lakh. The awards will be given on November 18th at Kochi. American writer’s guild also announced an award for the film. The film which already bagged ten nominations for the Oscar and four global awards under different categories is now awarded for Best Picture, Direction, Music, Sound editing, Cinematography, and Screen play by the British Academy. The film got appreciation and faced a strong criticism from the Indian community.
