Millions of hearts skipped a beat when she gyrated to the super hit Bollywood number Tu cheez badi hai mast mast from the popular flick Mohra.
Raveena Tandon, one of the top heroines of tinseltown in the 90s, will be once again be seen on TV after a long time, but in a different avtar altogether.
The Mast mast girl is coming in a children reality show, Chak De Bachche on 9X as a celebrity judge.
In a chat with KT, Raveena talks about the new show, her comeback to films, family and more.
So, what made her judge a children’s reality show?
“I love children and relate to working with them. And since the show showcases children’s talent, I immediately agreed,” says Raveena, who was also the president of Children’s Film Society of India.
So what about making a comeback into Bollywood?
“Well, I’m getting a lot of offers,” avers Raveena, adding, “But I haven’t zeroed in on any project as of now. But yes, I am certainly looking forward to working again in films.”
And what kind of roles would she prefer playing, we ask her?
“Anything that excites me, I’ll do. It doesn’t have to do with only offbeat cinema or serious roles,” avers the National award winning actor.
Raveena, in her long, illustrious career has done some memorable films like Mohra, Shool, Aks, Daman, Satta , etc. So, what are the changes she has observed in the film industry?
“The industry has certainly changed for the positive,” comes a quick reply, as she adds in the same vein, “Now, there is work for everybody as good looks are not the criterion anymore. Heroines, especially like Kajol , have come of age. And like Hollywood, Indian audience too has started accepting married heroines.”
Raveena, who’s married to film producer Anil Thadani feels life gains a greater meaning after marriage.
“There are a whole range of emotions in a married life and I’m enjoying every moment of it,” says Raveena, who is a mother of a daughter and a new-born son.
Animals are another concern with the beautiful actor.
She agrees: “I feel children and animals are most innocent and abused in this world. So, if my celebrity status helps in doing something for them, then what’s the harm in it?”
Any plans of joining politics in the near future?
“No. I’m too sensitive a person to join politics,” ends Raveena with a smile.
