The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition filed by a resident of Andhra Pradesh, who claimed that Bollywood actress Sridevi deserted him after 11 years of marriage.
Vicharapu Ramkrishna Gowd of Guntur District had sought restitution of conjugal rights claiming that he was legally wedded with the actress, who deserted him in 2003.
A Bench comprising Justice B P Singh and Justice P P Naolekar declined to entertain Gowd's petition challenging the Madras High Court verdict which quashed the proceedings before a family court in Chennai for restitution of his conjugal rights by imposing a cost of Rs 1 lakh on him.
He had claimed that the marriage ceremony had taken place on March 15, 1992.
Gowd had first approached the family court in Chennai which had issued notice to Sridevi on March 26, 2004.
However, instead of responding to the notice, she preferred to approach the High Court which held that Gowd had failed to prove his marriage with her.
