Claiming innocence in the arms licence case, Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan has sought a personal hearing before the authorities can proceed against her for obtaining a gun licence when underage and ‘misuse’ of the weapon for killing of an endangered black buck.
The district administration on Monday recieved the reply to its show cause notice to the actress and will be taking a decision on the matter on Wednesday.
"In her reply, Soha Sultan has said she was not at fault in the incident and requested to be given a personal hearing," Deputy Commissioner Gurgaon Rakesh Gupta said.
The show cause, issued on March 21 and returnable in 15 days, had asked Soha to explain how she got the licence when she was under the age 18 and why it should not be cancelled for violation of the Arms Act.
It also asked why her father, former Indian cricket team captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, ‘retainer’ of a .12 bore rifle issued on her licence, allegedly misused the weapon in connection with the black buck poaching case against him in Jhajjar district of Haryana in 2005.
Soha was issued the licence on November 5, 1996, when she was a little over 18 years, in violation of the Arms Act under which only people 21 years or above are eligible for arms licences, Gupta had earlier said.
